The Crimson Tide - Campaign Round 2

With the Unity lock-down of the Starport on Jacob's Reach, Matt and his crew were stuck planet side for the foreseeable future. This wasn't a problem however as the crew still had a job to do from the shady sector government administrator. Before meeting the contact to get more details about the job however, there was time to make some preparations.

This time, Matt and A-113 offered to guard the ship while doing some sparing. Sebastian and Jeb headed for the markets to do some trading and gather supplies while Linda and Tyris decided to head into town to meet with an information broker looking to get more leads on some of the local criminal elements. They decided to meet up later in the evening to get the mission brief from their contact.

Sebastian and Jeb's supply run ended up being very lucrative for the crew. Jeb had met up with a local merchant specializing in ship parts and with Sebastian's help scored a deal on a brand new water purification system for the ship. Sebastian was also able to get a deal on a used communicator that just needed some tender love and care to make it useful again.

Linda's meeting with the information broker also turned out to be fairly successful. She was able to get a copy of local police activity and a bunch of notable gangs that were active in the area. Later, she and Tyris bumped into a fellow K'Erin who swapped some good battle stories with Tyris.

Once everyone returned to the ship, Matt opened a secure comm channel to their contact and they began their mission brief. The reason for the Unity lock-down was because a rogue AI had taken over the dock Bots at the Spaceport. The area had to be quarantined while the bots were running around causing harm. Several dock workers and security members had been attacked when the Bots went rogue.

Matt's crew needed to go in, put down the Bots and then a clean-up crew would come in behind and get the Spaceport up and running again. They could keep any gear they found while doing the mission. It was a very straight forward request.

Matt agreed to the mission and the crew were given access to the Spaceport's loading area to begin their mission. They spread out and found the bots had all gathered together in a central dock bay. It looked like they were communicating with each other through some kind of link. Taking the opportunity to get the drop on the Bots, the crew opened fire on the cluster of Bots and destroyed them all in one big volley of fire.

Matt ordered the team to fan out and see if there was anything salvageable from the loading area and they were able to find a jump belt and a gun sight from one of the fallen dock guards. Matt signaled to their contact that the job was done and a beep on his wrist unit noted a sizable deposit in his account for the job completion. As they headed out, They picked up a fallen data pad which contained some corporate espionage notes.

Later that evening, Matt reached out to the company that the notes had been about to let them know about the data. The representative had been very grateful and offered to provide them with a work opportunity in the future as they seemed to be a skilled crew.

Sebastian took the opportunity to pop into the local night school which was doing a special on local trade laws and merchant's codes. He figured it would be good to know the in's and out's of the local trading system to score some better deals before they departed the planet. While Sebastian was away, the crew also received a visit from A-113's arm's dealer who delivered a few more weapons as thanks for clearing up the Spaceport issue so that business could pick up again.

It would probably be another day before the Spaceport could open again, so Matt began to plan out another day on Jacob's Reach.
