The crew of the Bug-out had another day on Jacob's Reach before the Unity lock-down was lifted. This provided a nice opportunity to get stocked up in preparation to leave and maybe do some more good while planet side.
The sector government official they had just worked for had sent a communique to the ship indicating they had another job for the crew. They also got a message from the corporation they had returned the data to that they were in need of the crew's services. Sebastian offered to meet with the job contacts and get the relevant details.
Linda and Tyris, having had their fill of the town the previous day offered to stay behind to guard the ship and do some more sparing, always looking to be prepared for what ever job came their way next. Jeb asked A-113 if they'd like to accompany him into the markets to see what they could gather up before looking to head off world.
Jeb and A-113's market run wasn't as fruitful as they'd hoped. The markets were beginning to struggle without the constant shipments from the Spaceport. A-113 was able to get another gently used communicator that needed a bit of repair, but Jeb didn't see any good deals, but continued to look.
Sebastian first met with the government official to see what job they needed done. It turned out, there was a local gun slinger gang that had been causing a ruckus. They were holdup just outside of the town and would come in at night to raid local shops and homes. There wasn't enough resources to send any law enforcement out since the last time they tried to bring the gang in. Sebastian said he'd bring the job to the crew and they'd be in touch.
Then Sebastian met with the corporate representative to see what job they had. It turned out that a nest of large space bugs had been discovered near the factory district and they had been attacking the local workers. There was a hive queen that seemed to be controlling the nest, but no one was able to get close enough to deal with these pests. They needed the job done within the week, as they had a corporate visit coming up, and everything needed to be ship shape. Sebastian said they'd be in touch.
Once Sebastian got back to the ship, he spoke with Matt about the two jobs. Matt figured the gang could be dealt with quickly and then they could deal with the infestation issue. He decided to pop into town to see if there was any additional intel they could get before. Linda decided to tag along since Sebastian could stay behind with Tyris to guard the ship.
The two of them bumped into Jeb while out and spoke about the gang mission. Jeb said he had a contact who would have intel on the gangs base of operations and went to see what he could get. A local heard Matt and Jeb talking about the mission and came over to talk to Matt. The gang had recently burned his business down in a recent raid and offered a bounty on the gang's leader if Matt could make it so that they "didn't make it to the authorities". Matt accepted the bounty and told the shop owner not to worry about it.
The crew reconvened later in the day at the ship to make final preparations for the mission. Jeb had been able to get the blueprints for the gang's base of operations from his contact. But after dropping off the blueprints, Jeb had wandered away. As it turned out, Jeb was rather enamored with his contact, a fellow mutant who he had offered to take on a date.
As the team prepared to head out for their mission, Matt noticed Jeb's absence and asked Tyris if he'd go track him down and bring him to the gang's hideout to aid in the mission. Tyris begrudgingly agreed and set out to find his mission compatriot.
Matt, Sebastian, Linda, and A-113 arrived in the outskirts of the colony where the gunslinger's hideout was. They made their arrival well known as they walked right up to the gang's front door. The lead Gunslinger addressed them as they approached;
"What do you want?"
"I'm here to collect a bounty that's on your head friend. We can do this the easy way, or the hard way."
The gang leader laughed as he drew his weapon. Matt nodded to his team and they began to dash towards the hideout. Linda and Sebastian lay down some cover fire while Matt and A-113 breached the main entrance. The gangers didn't stand a chance as the onslaught was fierce. The two ex-operative moved through the grunts as if they weren't even there.
Eventually, they made their way up to the leaders room where he had taken refuge. Without a second thought, Matt dropped him with a single shot. Another job done, and the colony would be a little safer. With the gang dealt with, and Tyris and Jeb arriving just in time to help locate any interesting loot, the crew locked down the hideout and notified their contact that the mission was complete. Matt also let the shop owner know everything was taken care of.
With everything concluded, they set out for their ship to rest up for the next day.
