The Crimson Tide - Campaign Round 7

As a new day dawned on Shard's End, the crew of the Bug-out prepared for the days work. Everyone was enjoying the newly renovated cabins they now had access to. It helped especially for Tyris as he recovered from the injuries in their previous battle.

To help Tyris get back up to his proper combat efficiency, Jeb had offered to spar with him. Having taken on a sort of medical role in the crew, Jeb wanted to ensure that Tyris' recovery was progressing well. He was suitably impressed with how quickly a K'Erin could heal. Matt checking in after their sparring session to let them know he'd repaired the recently acquired plasma rifle.

A-113 joined Sebastian for a trip into the markets to see what items they could find. Being fresh off of the crew cabin upgrades, Sebastian found himself planning ahead for the next possible ship upgrade and made a deal with a parts supplier for some spare ship parts. A-113 was able to find a functioning communicator from a local tech merchant.

Lucas decided to tag along with Linda as the went into town to explore. Their exploration was cut short when some local hired gangs recognized them from the battle the night before. The two tried to lose them in the alleys, but it wasn't until Lucas bumped into an old contact of his that they were able to give them the slip. Lucas' old friend Bishop just happened to be planet side completing some business. He lead Lucas and Linda into a safe house where they could let the gangers wander by.

Lucas explained to Linda how Bishop has been his main tech guy for much of his career. Bishop noted that he was currently between jobs and Lucas offered to have him join the crew as they could use an experienced technician to help with the ships gear. Bishop agreed and they proceeded back to the ship once the coast was clear.

Once the crew were all back aboard, Matt began to outline their next mission. Continuing their quest to dismantle Extra-solar Implementations operations, they had to follow up on the information they received about a group of local Primitives being given something by ESI. The item was unknown, but they knew where the tribe was.

They planned their approach as the tribe was located in a near by crystal valley. Once on site, they would investigate and determine where and what the item was. Bishop offered a special tracker that would identify anything that was not native to the planet allowing the crew to properly identify this item.

Making their way to the valley, the crew soon found themselves confronted with members of the tribe. They told Matt and his crew they were not welcome and to leave, but Matt wasn't about to take no for an answer. Anticipating this, he'd sent A-113 to infiltrate the village while Matt would stall the tribesmen and keep them occupied.

A-113 was able to infiltrate into some of the caves and shanty structures, using the device Bishop had given them. After a short while, A-113 found the item tucked into a chest at the back of one of the more elaborate shanty structures. It was a small device with an inserted data rod. A-113 took the item and signaled Matt that the acquisition was complete, but before they could exfiltrate the structure, some guards caught A-113 and they were forced to flee with the item.

The commotion signaled to the others that they had been deceived and the rest of the crew dove for cover as the primitives surrounding them launched their attack. The attack was short lived though as the returning fire from the crew was more than sufficient to cut down any Primitive that drew close. Matt then lead the team to link up with A-113 and they began to make their way back to the ship with the item in tow.

As the surviving Primitives came together, they vowed to get their revenge! The leader signaled to his trackers to tail the crew. They would rally the near by allies and make for these interlopers home.

Back at the Bug-out, the crew gathered around to see what they had gone through the trouble of getting. It turned out that it was a holo-projector and displayed a map of the near by crystal mines. Attached notes indicated that ESI was using the Primitives to steal from the mines and then for the crystals to be transported off-world. It would take some time however to decode the destination.
