As I haven't gotten any new rounds of the campaign in yet, I decided this week I will do a quick recap of the first 9 rounds and expand a bit on the new characters and locations that were not in the original overview.
Lucas "Pretty Boy" Clyde
Lucas has always wanted to do right by people. He's always trying to look out for the down trodden but is also always trying to prove his value to himself, if no one else. Coming from a comfortable upper middle class life in the Megacity, he decided at a young age to enlist with the Unity forces on Jacob's Reach and became a reservist in the colonial defense garrison. After awhile though, he found the life style wasn't exactly what he liked and didn't feel he was having the impact he had hoped. Fate took a change for Lucas though on his final mission for Unity when he was assigned a part of a protection detail for a Sector Government Official. When the official came under attack be an organized gang looking to intimidated them, Lucas single handedly defended the official and brought them safely to their destination. The official took notice of Lucas' skill and offered him a private security gig.
Soon after, Lucas found himself enjoying the work. Working primarily as a bodyguard to the Sector Government official, he learned a lot about how society was influenced on Jacob's reach and he soon realized that he'd one day like to enter the political arena using the experience he'd gained from his various jobs.
Those plans temporarily went on hold after teaming up with Matt and the crew of the Bug-out. The discovery of the illegal activities of Extra-solar Implementations and Lucas' drive to better society found him in alignment with Matt and his crew and he offered to join them temporarily to see this quest through.
Bishop "Tech Support" Holdrick
Bishop has a knack for technology. Leave him with some rocks, chewing gum, and duct tape and he'll have put them together to uncover the secretes of the universe. Somewhat socially aloof, most people and organizations would pay a fortune for his technical prowess. This has allowed Bishop to go about as he sees fit to pursue his love of technology and tinkering with devices.
At one point, he was given a lab and research funding from the Sector Government's office on Jacob's reach to develop more efficient water extraction deceives. This was how he first met Lucas. Afterwards, Bishop had been retained for more technical work and created and provided much of the gear Lucas used in his line of work. The two formed a good friendship and Lucas was sad when Bishop eventually moved onto the next job once his contract with the Sector Government was completed.
As fate would have it, Bishop and Lucas were able to reconnect on later on Shard's End when Lucas was in a pinch and needed some help. He offered Bishop a place on Matt's crew knowing how useful his technical expertise could be.
Shard's End
Shard's End is a terrestrial world known primarily for it's mining operations of massive crystal deposits. For all it's mineral wealth, the general population is rather impoverished as most of the corporate elites hoard the wealth from the mining operations. The planet is under Unity protection, but has no active Unity presence. The planet is largely defended by private security forces hired by the various companies.
The planet is also home to a native species of Orc like primitives simply known as Borlocs. As the mining operations encroach into their tribal territories, they push back in retaliatory strikes against the mining operations, equipment and crews. Occasionally they wander into larger settlements and cause trouble for the citizens as well.
The main space port is located in Ingram's Reach. It is where all the mining corporation HQs are located as well as any other business that operates on the planet. While the port and business core of the city look splendid, the residential sectors look little better than shanty towns. Run down neighborhoods and sometimes abandoned buildings populate the fringe's of Ingram's Reach, a sign of the wealth disparity on Shard's End.
Campaign Round 1-5 (Jacob's Reach)
Deciding to break away from Unity and work independently, Matt Charlemagne pools together resources and contacts from his time as a Unity Special Agent to head out into the backwater area of Unity space and try to make the area safer for regular folks. Starting at Jacob's reach, he acquires an old surplus Military Transport from local Unity pilot and mechanic Linda Hodgeon and christen it the Bug-Out. Then pulling together his old trading contact Sebastian, fellow Unity Special Agent A-113, K'Erin contact Tyris, and informant Jeb, the dubbed themselves the Crimson Tide and set to work finding leads on criminal elements causing problems for the locals. After clearing out a few low level gangs and outlaws, they were hired by the Sector Government by proxy of Lucas Clyde to look into the activities of Extra-solar Implementations (ESI). They discovered that ESI had an expansive network of illegal actives and so decided to set out to dismantle their operations in the sector. The would leave them off world to the nearby world of Shard's End.
Campaign Round 6-9 (Shard's End)
Following the information the crew acquired on Jacob's Reach, Matt and his team arrived at the mining world of Shard's End. Their investigation lead them to discover that ESI had left important information in the safe guard of a local primitive tribe. After a successful strike they acquired the information exposing more of ESI's operations. After defending themselves from the retaliations of the tribe, and picking up Lucas' old contact Bishop, the Crimson Tide look to follow the information to the next destination.
